In survey after survey, healthy teeth and smiling consistently rank in the top three most important things we look for in a partner. In a Match.com survey of 5,500 singles 21 and older, nearly 60 percent of men said they care most about good teeth in a potential date compared to a staggering 71 percent of women who ranked 'teeth' and an attractive smile as most important!

This comes as no surprise, as other studies have already revealed that faces are judged as being more attractive when smiling. In terms of facial esthetics, studies indicate that the smile has the greatest impact and prevails over any other component including the nose. Furthermore, smiling makes you appear younger, and it makes those around you happier because it’s actually contagious. When we see smiling faces, we are much more likely to smile back and elevate our mood.

As we age, the teeth wear-down and get shorter while the lips elongate from loss of collagen elasticity, often accelerated from the weight of fillers and other beauty enhancement procedures. These changes result in a hidden and diminished smile, which both looks less desirable and feels less confident than before. We can even predict someone's age by simply looking at their teeth, as we are extremely accurate at recognizing the trends of aging to the teeth and smile.
